abbreviate vt.
1. to shorten (a word or phrase) by contraction or omission of some letters or words
We had better abbreviate it to ABC.
2. to shorten (a speech or piece of writing) by omitting sections, paraphrasing, etc.
I don't believe it will be necessary to abbreviate any of them, but leave the first paragraph out, which is just a greeting.
