Contemporary youngsters to celebrate Qixi Festival

The Qixi Festival (the Double Seventh Festival), known as the Chinese Valentine's Day, falls on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month each year, on Thursday this year. For the same festival, different periods of people have different ways of celebrations and activities, featuring their own characteristics of the times. Keen to celebrate the romantic day, many many youngsters and lovers have creatively come up with some very fashionable and trendy practices and activities to celebrate the Qixi Festival, also known as Double Seventh Festival or Qiqiao Festival because it is very meaningful for them to do some great things to celebrate.

Young people will always come together to organize some parties, or to participate in community services, or do some social or educational activities of significance to celebrate this special festival. For example, a Beijinger loves the ancient costumes associated with the festival. So on Qixi this year, he an dother clothes lovers have held an ancient sports contest to celebrate it, which has included such events as cuju (ancient football—it’s said that modern football originated from it), jiaoli (ancient wrestling) and archery. All of the competitors have worn period costumes.

As well as being the eve of the Olympics, many volunteers link it with the Olympic Games to send their wishes for the upcoming Olympics. They have made it publicity around them to stimulate people's enthusiasm for the Olympic Games and the active participation in the grand event.

Also, a large number of netizens are mutually blessing each other through the network. Sending messages to bless is a very popular practice, in young people's favor. I received lots of blessings and greetings on that special day.

Nowadays, a lot of young people, while also eating Jiaozi, have given them new meanings as follows.
One dumpling means a pleasant journey; two means double happiness to door; three is the same as six and nine, which promise promotions at work; four hints people will come into money within four seasons of year; five pomises a good harvest; seven means good wishes for everything; eight suggests you will soon release your unique potential to the best in everything, but also hinting the Eight Immortals cross the sea; nine is highest above all; and ten means everything will be perfect in every way. And at the same time, they are also blessing each other for a long life in goooood health and freeeee of worries.
